The share of the urban population is 67.2%. The official language in Ukraine is Ukrainian. As a result of several hundred years of convergence, the Russian language is widespread in the eastern and southern regions. The majority of the population belongs to Christians of the Byzantine rite — Orthodox and Greek Catholics.
