1 March, in the Institute of International Relations Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv an open lecture about Akhtem Chigusa will take place

Tomorrow, at 11.00 a.m. in the Institute of international relations (Melnikova str. 36/1) the public lecture about Akhtem Chigusa will be held.

A year has passed since the Crimean Tatars leader Akhtem Chigusa was arrested. During this time he was offered to go against himself and to betray the Majlis. His case includes more than 20 tomes. Akhtem Chigusa became the symbol of the Crimean resistance against the Russian occupation.

We will remind that on 26 February 2014, the rally of supporters of Ukraine’s territorial integrity was held outside the Crimean Parliament. As a result, the occupation authorities opened a criminal case, in which eight of the Crimean Tatars became the defendants. Akhtem Chigusa was charged with organizing mass riots. He is threatened from 8 till 15 years of imprisonment.

Mustafa Dzhemilev and Refat Chubarov will talk about this and many other.

Documentary film “The Crimea. The resistance” will be shown as part of the lecture, which was prepared by MIP in the framework of the communication campaign “Crimea is Ukraine”.

The entrance for the media is free.

Organizers: the Ministry of information policy of Ukraine, the Institute of international relations Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people.
