Ilmi Umerov, a Winner of the Prize of the European Memory and Conscience Platform

On November, at 1:30 p.m., a press conference titled “Ilmi Umerov, a Winner of the Prize of the European Memory and Conscience Platform” is to be held (Hall 2).

Organized by: The Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine.

Participants: Emine Dzhaparova, First Deputy Minister of Information Policy of Ukraine; Ilmi Umerov, Deputy Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people; Eskender Bariev, a member of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, Chairman of the Board of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center.

Additional information. The event will be devoted to the meaning and importance of the Prize for the image of the indigenous Crimean Tatar people.

The awarding ceremony took place in Paris during the Platform’s conference “100 Years of Communism. History and Memory.”

Ilmi Umerov was given the Prize of the European Memory and Conscience Platform ‘in recognition of his struggle against totalitarianism, for the ideals of democracy, fundamental human rights and freedoms and the rule of law.’

Ilmi Umerov was nominated for the Prize by the Crimean Tatar Resource Center and the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people.
