May 21-22: Meetings with Chernivtsi Students within Framework of MIP's "Prisoners of the Kremlin" Project

On 21-22 May 2019, students of Chernivtsi are to meet with Volodymyr Zhemchuhov, Adviser to the Minister of Information Policy and Hero of Ukraine. The meetings will be attended by Artem Bidenko, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine.

On May 21st, the meeting takes place at Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University (2 Kotsiubynskoho St), at 2:00pm.

Before the meeting, a press conference is scheduled for local news media at the Chernihiv regional state administration (1 Hrushevskoho St) at 11:00am.

On May 22nd, the meeting takes place at Chernivtsi Institute of Trade and Economics of Kyiv National University of Trade and Economics (7 Tsentralna Ploshcha) at 10:00am; and at Bukovinian State Medical University (15 Fedkovycha St), at 3:00pm.

The meetings will be in “open microphone” format, with anyone wishing to do so able to ask their questions and take part in discussions. Also, “Prisoners of the Kremlin”, a film produced by the order of the Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine, will be presented. At the end of the meeting, the participants will be given discs with the film and other information materials.

Volodymyr Zhemchuhov has supported resistance to Russian aggression. Since May 2014, he has been organising and actively participating in the resistance movement against Russian occupation. From 29 September 2015 through 17 September 2016, he was held captive by militants of the so-called “LNR”, having blown himself up on a trap wire and been seriously injured. Mr Zhemchuhov has also taken an active part in state and volunteer initiatives in Ukraine and abroad, including military and patriotic lectures and discussions with pupils, cadets, and servicepeople.
