PBCU Capacity Development: Technical Cooperation between Japan and Ukraine

On 21 June, 12:30, a press conference “Technical Cooperation between Japan and Ukraine in the Framework of the Project for Capacity Development of the Public Broadcasting of Ukraine” is held (Hall 1).

Participants: Yurii Stets, Minister of information policy of Ukraine; Shigeki Sumi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan in Ukraine; Kenichi Hashimoto, Leader of the JICA Project; Zurab Alasania, Chairman of the Public Broadcasting Company of Ukraine; Atsushi Miyao, Team Leader of NHK International; Maryna Sobotyuk, Head of the Sector of Media Communications and Interaction with Mass Media of the Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine.

More information: Within Japan’s assistance to Ukraine, the Project for Capacity Development of the Public Broadcasting of Ukraine was launched in January 2017.

The purposes of the project are to strengthen the PBU staff’s ability to operate and maintain TV equipment, to ensure the PBU staff’s ability to make education programs, to support the establishment of the press system in emergency situations and natural disasters. Japan will contribute to the Project for Capacity Development of the Public Broadcasting of Ukraine through the dispatch of experts, NHK International, equipment provision, and training courses in Japan.
