MCIP and the European Alliance of News Agencies discussed cooperation within the framework of the “Information Ramstein” initiative

On April 13, an online meeting was held between the team of the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine headed by Oleksandr Tkachenko and the Secretary General of the European Alliance of News Agencies (EANA), Alexandru Giboi. The parties discussed Ukraine’s desire to unite the potential of the media community of democratic countries in the format of the “Information Ramstein” initiative, as well as the expansion of informing the world about the war in Ukraine.

“The consolidation of efforts of civilized countries, including the media community within the “Information Ramstein” initiative, will not only help expand informing the world about the war in Ukraine, but also conduct journalistic investigations of the crimes by russian army. In addition, together we can implement other projects aimed at countering russian propaganda,” said Oleksandr Tkachenko, Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine.

Respecting the principle of media freedom, Ukraine has proposed to unite the efforts of the media community to recognize the mass controlled by the russian authorities as instruments of propaganda and to create projects aimed at highlighting the real situation during the war in the occupied territories and in russia itself, where the opportunities for democratic media are increasingly restricted.

At the same time, the MCIP is considering the possibility of creating a single platform  within the framework of the “Information Ramstein” initiative, which will gather all investigations by Ukrainian and foreign media of russian crimes in Ukraine.

To remind you, the European Alliance of News Agencies (EANA) includes 32 news agencies from Europe. The Secretary General, Alexandru Giboi, plays a significant role in setting the Alliance’s agenda and represents the organization in communications with other participants in the global media market.
