Spain will allocate EUR 1.5 million for the creation of a cultural hub in Lviv

On February 16, a meeting between Oleksandr Tkachenko, Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine, as well as his deputies Galyna Grygorenko, Anastasia Bondar, Taras Shevchenko, with Ricardo López-Aranda Jagu, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Spain to Ukraine, and Javier Fuentes Leja, Cultural Advisor of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Spain in Ukraine, took place at MCIP. It was about cooperation between Ukraine and Spain in the spheres of culture, cultural heritage and media.

Oleksandr Tkachenko thanked the Spanish side for comprehensive support of Ukraine and Ukrainian culture, particularly for full financial assistance in the creation of a cultural hub in Lviv. This project is implemented by UNESCO. The Spanish side will allocate EUR 1.5 million for this. Also, Spain actively supports decisions regarding Ukraine at sessions of international organizations.

“It is pleasant that today we discussed certain projects in the field of photography, cinema, music and theater both in Spain and in Ukraine, and cooperation between our artists and institutions. A number of events are currently taking place in Spain to support the art of Ukraine, for example, the large exhibition project “In the eye of the hurricane. Vanguard in Ukraine” at the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum in Madrid. The Ambassador particularly noted the quality and success of the exhibition. We need more such projects, as we have agreed. We are working on expanding our relations,” said Oleksandr Tkachenko, Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine.

The parties also discussed Ukraine’s need for cultural exchanges and international cooperation, certain projects related to supporting the activities of Ukrainian cultural institutions, popularization of Ukrainian culture and art, grant programs for artists and managers in the field of arts, as well as media support.
