Minister of Information Policy of Ukraine reported the accomplishment of the foreign broadcasting reform of Ukraine to the Government

Today, 30 September, during a meeting of the Government, the Minister of Information Policy of Ukraine Yurii Stets reported the accomplishment of the foreign broadcasting reform of Ukraine. The Minister announced that tomorrow, 1 October, at 12:00 pm, Multimedia foreign broadcasting platform of Ukraine will be the launched.

“In execution of the Coalition agreement and the Government Action Plan for 2015 we are completing the foreign broadcasting reform of Ukraine. It includes 3 satellites, 5 continents, hundreds of the countries and millions of viewers. Today it is not just an ambitious project. Today it is a reality”, – said the Minister.

New draft law “On foreign broadcasting system of Ukraine” will be the legal driving force of Multimedia foreign broadcasting platform of Ukraine developed by MIP.

This regulatory document previously was supported by the Government of Ukraine, and submitted for consideration to the Parliament. The draft law provides for a system of state foreign broadcasting that will enable information delivery about events in Ukraine to international audiences, including the Ukrainian diaspora.

Director General of “Ukrinform” news agency Oleksandr Kharchenko commented as follows: “In addition to the experience and tradition, we have a young team. Our news is the fastest. We always write about the main thing, not the secondary, showing what is a reason and what are consequences. These days we are launching a Multimedia foreign broadcasting platform of Ukraine and, without a doubt, by the end of the year “Ukrinform” will be the news agency №1 in Ukraine.  

Yurii Stets: “We were told that this is impossible, but, nevertheless, our work is done. We have to pass 2 voting in the Verkhovna Rada and the signature of the President under the law “On foreign broadcasting system of Ukraine” to finish foreign broadcasting reform”.

Have in mind that pursuant to the Coalition agreement, the Government Action Plan for 2015 and the Strategy for sustainable development 2020 the Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine was charged with one of the main tasks, the foreign broadcasting reform of Ukraine.
