Minister of information policy of Ukraine Yurii Stets requires from the General Prosecutor Office of Ukraine, the Security Service of Ukraine and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine to institute criminal proceedings on the fact of threats to the journalist of “Novoe Vremya” Kristina Berdinskikh.
“Practically, the fact of the threats is not only the attempt of impeding the activities of journalists, it is unacceptable in a constitutional democratic state, which we all want to see Ukraine. The facts provided by the journalist, should be investigated as quickly as possible! The society should be informed immediately on the results”, – said Yurii Stets.
According to the Minister, these actions contain the signs of crimes under Part 1 of Article 345-1 of the Criminal code of Ukraine “Threat or violence concerning the journalist”, Article 171 of the Criminal code of Ukraine “Obstruction to lawful professional activities of journalists”.
We will remind, that on 12th February, the journalist Kristina Berdinskikh received SMS with threats of reprisal for the investigation against the company “Kyivgas”.
