MIP's Statement Regarding Switching Off of UA:First Channel

The Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine considers the situation with the switching off of the UA:First channel because of its debts unacceptable.

“Of course, the situation with the switching off of the UA:First channel because of its debts is unacceptable. Therefore, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine together with the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine must address the issue of the financing of the National Public Television of Ukraine without further delay. The Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine will submit its proposals for the payment of the NPTU’s debt to the BRT Concern to the Government in the following days,” the Minister of Information Policy of Ukraine, Yuriy Stets, was quoted as saying.

On June 18, the analogue broadcasting of UA:First via transmitters in Bilopillia, Vinnytsia, Dnipro, Izium, Kyiv, Kovel, Odesa, Ternopil, and Chernihiv, was suspended.

The Broadcasting, Radiocommunications and Television Concern (BRT Concern) stopped delivering the analogue broadcasting signal for the NPTU’s failure to pay for the broadcasting.
