MIP: Government adopted a resolution concerning the unimpeded activity of media during pre-election period

Today, 13 October, during a meeting of the Government, the Minister of Information Policy of Ukraine Yurii Stets addressed to the members of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine: “I address to support the resolution for which the Parliament failed to vote at the last meeting regarding the unimpeded activity of media in pre-election period, which is a pressing and urgent”.

Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk ordered to submit to the agenda the mentioned matter, noting that Volodymyr Groysman, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, has addressed to him with the same request.

During the meeting, members of the Government voted for a regulatory document, prepared by MIP.

Recall, 9 October, at the meeting of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine after considering the prohibition on inspections during the pre-election campaigns, the Minister of Information Policy of Ukraine Yurii Stets announced about the introduction of relevant regulatory document to the Government from MIP soon. The precondition for this was the insufficient number of parliamentarians’ votes.
