MIP: New composition of the Commission on the broadcasting renewal has been approved

21 October 2016, a meeting of the Commission on ensuring stable operation of national television and radio broadcasting under the Ministry of information policy of Ukraine took place.

During the meeting, the new composition of the Commission was approved and a new format of the co-chairs was proposed. This initiative on the work optimization at the Commission meeting was presented by the Chairman of the National Council of Television and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine Yurii Artemenko and the Minister of information policy of Ukraine Yurii Stets.

“Given the need for effective implementation of the developed Strategy on the development of broadcasting in Kherson region and broadcasting organization on the territory of Crimea, we have to expand its authority by  including representatives of interested bodies, in particular, the Ministry of Temporarily Occupied Territories and IDPs”, – said Yurii Stets .

Thus, the co-chairs of the Commission on ensuring stable functioning of national television and radio broadcasting under MIP are: Yurii Stets, the Minister of information policy of Ukraine; Vadym Chernysh, the Minister of temporarily occupied territories and IDPs; Yurii Artemenko, the Chairman of the National Council of Television and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine.

In the course of the Commission’s work, it was managed to implement a number of projects in ATO zone, in particular, the installation of transmitting equipment (more than 60 transmitters) donated by foreign partners that have significantly increased the broadcasting coverage of in Donetsk and Luhansk regions (up to 30%).

Recall that pursuant to the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers on March 10, 2015 Protocol No. 30, the Ministry of information policy of Ukraine established the Commission on ensuring stable operation of national television and radio broadcasting.

Note that from that time MIP held weekly meetings of the Commission on broadcasting renewal under the chairmanship of former Deputy Minister of information policy of Ukraine Tetiana Popova, with the participation of representatives and members of the Commission: the the National Council of Television and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine, BRT Concern, the Ukrainian State Centre of Radio Frequencies, SSU and MIP Advisors. During meetings, decisions on the Ukrainian broadcasting renewal in the east of Ukraine, neighboring regions and the Crimea are being made. In addition, the monitoring mission of MIP under the chairmanship of Oleksandr Brygynets, Advisor to the Minister on broadcasting renewal in ATO zone, MP of Ukraine is constantly located in ATO zone. The aim of the mission is to study and to reintegrate the information space of the east of the country and to convey important information about the broadcasting state in those territories.
