MIP: State budget is to allocate funds to purchase transmission equipment to expand broadcasting of Ukrainian TV channels

Today, 22 July, during a regular meeting of the Government, the decision of CMU “On allocation of funds for the purchase of additional equipment for installation and connection of transmission equipment for radio or television broadcasting”, and the decision to support the draft law “On Amendments to the Tax Code of Ukraine on transmission equipment for radio or television broadcasting” and send it to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine were taken.

Draft documents were prepared by the Ministry of Information Policy based on the results of the Commission on Ensuring Stable Operation of National Television and Radio Broadcasting, which dealt with the matter of full use of transmitters transferred from the EU partners to expand the broadcasting network of Ukrainian TV channels, in particular in the liberated territories.

To resolve this problem, MIP developed a draft order for CMU. And today at the Government meeting the question adopting a document that will help to fill vacant broadcasting frequencies and thus to expand the broadcasting of Ukrainian TV channels was raised by the Minister of Information Policy. Also, earlier in his comments, Yurii Stets said that as soon as funding starts, the first to be launched is the broadcast of public television.

Recall, that in execution of the decision by the Cabinet of Ministers of 10 March 2015 Protocol № 30, the Commission on Ensuring Stable Operation of National Television and Radio Broadcasting was created by the Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine.
