MIP: Tvoia Kraina Fest, a Ukrainian Music Festival, Takes Place near Hungarian Border

On 15 September 2018, Tvoia Kraina Fest, a Ukrainian music festival, took place in Mykachevo, Zakarpattia Region, with the support of the Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine.

The bands “Mandry” and “Antytila”, Ivanka Chervinska, Maria Burmaka and Gypsy Lyre sang their songs for residents of and visitors to the town, located near the border with Hungary.

“What is specific about this travelling fest is performing Ukrainian music for people in frontline towns, because these are towns where Ukraine, in fact, takes its beginning. The festival pursues the creative and uniting aim, as there is no other good way of becoming closer than music, culture, songs,” says Serhiy Fomenko (Foma), frontman of the band “Mandry”.

Mykachevo has become the fifth town to see Tvoia Kraina Fest take place.

“Ukrainian music, Ukrainian songs should be heard everywhere — from Mykachevo to Mariupol, from Izmail to Konotop. This is the logic of the festival. I think we will continue the tour around Ukraine next year, and as for now, you can expect the next concert in Novoselytsia, near the border with Romania and Moldova,” the Minister of Information Policy of Ukraine, Yuriy Stets, was quoted as saying.

On 8 September 2018, Tvoia Kraina Fest, a Ukrainian music festival, took place in Konotop, Sumy Region, with the support of the Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine. On 24 August 2018, Tvoia Kraina Fest took place in frontline Mariupol, Donetsk Region. On 11 August 2018, Tvoia Kraina Fest took place in Izmail (Odesa Region, border with Romania); on 18 August, in Henichesk, close to the administrative border with occupied Crimea.

On 22 September, the festival takes place in Novoselyshche (Chernivtsi Region, bordering Romania and Moldova); on 29 September, Sarny (Rivne Region, bordering Belarus).

Tvoia Kraina Fest is mostly designed to bring good modern Ukrainian music to the remotest corners of Ukraine, which artists often miss out in their tours.
