On 16 December 2017, around 50 students from state universities all over Ukraine came to the Ministry of Information Policy with the aim of engaging themselves in Ukraine’s information policy by becoming members of the Students’ Council under the Ministry.
MIP’s State Secretary Artem Bidenko congradulated the students on joining the Students’ Council. “Today MIP’s Students’ Council is the only body of its kind under state bodies. The energy of the youth and their creative ideas inspire us and help create interesting projects in the field of information policy. We are constantly enlarging MIP’s team thanks to active students.”
Maryna Sobotyuk, the Students’ Council’s Coordinator from MIP, commented: “Today we have here people from all over Ukraine: Sievierodonetsk, Kharkiv, Lutsk, Odesa, Lysychansk, Poltava… There are representatives from practically all regions. It is a wonderful opportunity for us to set up events and actions which unite and defend us in the information field in all Ukrainian regions.”
In addition, the All-Ukrainian Conference ‘Participation of MIP’s Students’ Council in Educational Projects on Information Security’ was held within the framework of the meeting.
The list of speakers included Dmytro Zolotukhin, Deputy Minister of Information Policy of Ukraine, the first Ukrainian speaker of an international conference on competitive intelligence, organized by the German Institute for Competitive Intelligence; Akim Halimov, author of the project ‘Ukraine. The Return of Own History’, journalist; Olena Dobrzhanska, Director of the Communications Centre of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, PhD in Political Science; Hanna Krysiuk, Director-General of the Ukrainian Book of Records, Adviser to the President of the WCUYO, owner of the magazine ‘BusinessWOMAN’; Kyrylo Beskorovainyi, co-founder and editor-in-chief of the popular science magazine ‘Kunsht’, student.
It should be recalled that in April 2016, the Students’ Council, an advisory and deliberative body, was created under the Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine. It originally consisted of 12 students majoring in International Information from the Institute of International Relations of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. The project having proved successful provided for its expansion to the All-Ukrainian level.
The Council gives recommendations and holds consultation on issues relating to the shaping of Ukraine’s information policy, ensuring the independent information space of Ukraine and creating positive pretexts on the occasion of memorable dates, and so on.
