Tetiana Popova: "Members of the Commission had filled a number of proposals to Ukrainian legislation on enhancing Ukrainian broadcasting that were already approved by the Government"

11 August, a briefing of the Deputy Minister of Information Policy of Ukraine Tetiana Popova on “Report of the Commission on Ensuring Stable Operation of National Television and Radio Broadcasting”, with the participation of the Deputy Minister Artem Bidenko and the members of the Commission: Yurii Artemenko – Chairman of the National Television and Radio Broadcasting Council of Ukraine; Sergii Galushko – Deputy Head of Information Technology MDU, was held.

During the briefing Tetiana Popova has reported on the results of the Commission since its establishment (10 March, 2015 pursuant to the decision of CMU Protocol №30). The Commission includes leading representatives of the following spheres: Ministry of Finance of Ukraine, Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Security Service of Ukraine, State Service of Special Communication Administration, State Committee for television and radio broadcasting of Ukraine and National Council of Ukraine.

“Since the establishment of the Commission we held weekly meetings at which determined the main problems in occupied, liberated territories and on the front line in the East of Ukraine, and applied every effort to solve them. On the results of these meetings MIP lawyers developed a number of proposals and amendments to existing legislation in order to solve existing problems in sphere of broadcasting reestablishment”, – reported the Deputy Minister, the President of the Commission Tetiana Popova. She has voiced adopted amendments to the law, and the future ones, and revealed the contents of their effectiveness.

Yurii Artemenko and Sergii Galushko commented on developments of the Commission with their participation, and noted the good result of joint work with the MIP.

Recall that recently the Government decided to allocate funds for the purchase of feeders and antennas for state TV radio companies. This will allow to install transmitters provided by our foreign partners, and to expand broadcasting of Ukrainian TV channels, also to take back frequencies owned by the state. In particular, the amendments are developed by the Commission on Ensuring Stable Operation of National Television and Radio Broadcasting.
