TV Tower in Bakhmutivka Officially Opened Today, Ukrainian Channels Got Around 90,000 Viewers, According to Stets

On 22 August 2017, a new 134-metre TV tower near the village Bakhmutivka of Novoaidar Raion, Luhansk Region, was officially opened.

The event was attended by President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, Minister of Information Policy of Ukraine Yurii Stets as well as other government officials.

Addressing live to the viewers who will be receiving the radio and TV signal from the new tower, the Head of State stressed, “Today we are opening this extremely important TV tower, which is 134 metres high and has powerful transmitters that will provide information not only to the liberated part of Luhansk Oblast but also to the occupied territory.

“And the residents of Luhansk will finally be able to listen to Ukrainian radio and watch Ukrainian television.”

Petro Poroshenko underscored that the project’s implementation had been made possible owing to the joint efforts of Ukrainian government officials, the Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine, the State Service of Special Communication and Information Protection, and Ukrainian partners.

The President also thanked the head of the oblast, people’s deputies and all who had ensured the implementation of the project.

In his turn, Minister of Information Policy of Ukraine Yurii Stets stressed that it was the third tower which had been constructed for the past two years in order to develop broadcasting in Kherson, Donetsk and Luhansk Oblasts.

“Owing to this, the number of people having access to the signal of Ukrainian TV and radio stations has increased up to 90,000 viewers.

“With the signal from this tower, we are beginning comprehensive broadcasting which will encompass “white spots” on the “line of demarcation”. By such gradual though confident steps, we will achieve a full restoration of Ukrainian broadcasting throughout Ukraine.”

It is recalled that the development of broadcasting in the ATO zone and to Crimea is carried out as part of the work of the Interagency Commission on Ensuring the Stable Functioning of the National TV and Radio Broadcasting System under the Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine.
