7 June, in the press center of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine a press conference with the participation of Yurii Stets – the Minister of information policy of Ukraine, Zurab Alasania – Director General of the National broadcasting company of Ukraine and Yurii Artemenko – Chairman of the National Council on television and radio broadcasting of Ukraine was held.
The Ministry of information policy intends to pass the frequencies of the “BTB” TV channel to the National Council on television and radio broadcasting of Ukraine for allocation according to the results of a competition.
The Minister of information policy Yurii Stets inform about this at the press conference.
“Those licenses for frequencies that belong to the “BTB” TV channel domestically, will be given to the National Council on television and radio broadcasting of Ukraine by the Ministry of information policy this week”, – said Yurii Stets.
The Minister expressed his hope, that these frequencies according to the results of the contest will be transferred to the public TV channel “Kultura” (“Culture”).
According to the Chairman of the National Council on television and radio broadcasting of Ukraine Yurii Artemenko, at the moment, there is an evident lack of a channel in the information space, which would cover the cultural sphere. Artemenko added that if the TV channel “Culture” will take part in the competition, it will be one of his favorites.
In turn, the Director General of the National broadcasting company of Ukraine Zurab Alasania said that the”Kultura”, despite problems with financing, will participate in the competition for the allocation of new frequencies.
Recall that yesterday, on 6 June, the President of Ukraine signed a Law that will enable the reform of public broadcasting in Ukraine.
Recall that the launch of the International broadcasting multimedia platform of Ukraine (IBMPU) was held on 1 October 2015. In the framework of the International broadcasting multimedia platform of Ukraine the “UA|TV” channel was introduced instead of satellite “UTR” TV channel. It is broadcasted via three satellites: Amos 3, Azerspace 1, Galaxy 19, as well on its own YouTube channel. The “BTB” TV channel was also submitted to under the management of MIP for the organization of international broadcasting.
Note, UA|TV channel have already appeared in Estonia, Azerbaijan, Poland, Denmark, Israel, Georgia, Latvia and etc.
The legal basis of the International broadcasting multimedia platform of Ukraine became the Law “On international broadcasting system of Ukraine” developed by MIP, which was signed by the President of Ukraine on 28 December 2015. According to the Law, IBMPU is registered as a state enterprise.
